JULY STUDENTS HEAD FOR HOME

After three weeks of living the LEC experience with their American host families in south central Pennsylvania, the seven July LEC students returned yesterday to their homes in France. There were lots of hugs and kisses and a few tears as the students boarded the van for the trip to Dulles International Airport in Sterling, Virginia.

Many thanks to those wonderful host families and their friends and extended families who welcomed these French kids into their homes and took them into their hearts.

Here are some photos of the group's departure. Click on any photo for a larger version.

Shawn, Cédric, and Jacques-Edouard and their host families
gather for the last time at the East Shore departure location near Linglestown.

LEC Capital Region always presents a souvenir American flag
to departing students. Here all the kids hold their flags
while their host families look on.

The only obstacle between Harrisburg and the airport was a bridge
project over the Potomac River as we crossed from
Maryland to Virginia on U.S. Route 15.

Marjolaine and Agnès greet friends, left, as the Marie Parey,
a French teacher who served as the group's chaperon,
and Louse Lamy, Washington regional coordinator for LEC,
check in arriving students.

Marie, left, and Louise flash a smile as they continue their work.

Dimitri, Shawn, and Alexis share stories
about their stay in the Capital Region.

The long wait begins.

The entire group of students visiting in south central Pennsylvania,
Maryland, and northern Virginia pose for a group photo.
